The comprehensive physical examination is a cornerstone of the HMCN Executive Health program. It is equal parts examination and consultation, and provides the opportunity for an extended, one-on-one visit.
Preparation
The day of the exam, dress in comfortable clothing, as you would for a physical exam with your own doctor. Bring workout clothes with you for testing on the treadmill.
Procedure
* Unless you have unique scheduling needs, the comprehensive physical exam will be one of the first items on your itinerary. On your arrival, a nurse will draw samples for the laboratory blood tests.
* A urine sample will also be requested sometime during your visit. Since you will be fasting in preparation for the blood draw, we'll provide you with a nice and healthy breakfast before continuing with your check up and / or meeting with your physician.
* The physician will interview you (carried out by our specialist of internal medicine upon completion of your full check up program) about your health history, including past and current conditions, vaccines, previous screenings and test results. This is an excellent opportunity to bring up any and all health questions or issues that you are curious about, or that have been bothering you.
* You'll have plenty of time to talk about them during your visit.
* The physician will also ask you about your lifestyle including exercise habits, general diet, smoking habits, sleeping habits, stress level, and family and work life.
* The extremely thorough physical examination will include checks of your heart, lungs, abdomen, height and weight, blood pressure, vision, ears, throat, thyroid, reflexes and comprehensive laboratory work up, as well as some procedures that are seldom included in a routine physical Exam . Men will receive a prostate exam, and women will receive a pelvic exam if they request it at the time they schedule their appointment.

Thanks to this in-depth exam and interview, your physician will be able to tailor very specific recommendations for improving and protecting your health.
These will go far beyond the usual, general advice to exercise more or eat healthier. They will take into account your unique goals, perspective and lifestyle. They are steps that will work specifically for you that you can put to use immediately.
If you wish (and we certainly encourage it), the findings of the comprehensive physical exam will be shared with you personally and a very sophisticated and 'easy to interpret' medical report will be submitted for your information. The Executive Health check up program is not designed to replace your relationship with your personal doctor, but to augment it.
